Tomato repacker Classie Re-Pak Inc. relocated in April from the East TennesseeRegional Food Distribution Center in White Pine, Tenn., to a nearby facilityin Morristown, Tenn.

Classie Re-Pak handles the tomatoes of Harloff Farms, Bradenton, Fla., and isusing part of Harloff's packing facility in Morristown.

Classie Re-Pak also invested in a computerized color sorter.

Grainger County Tomato

Grainger County Tomato Co./Ritter Farms, Bean Station, Tenn., invested lastsummer in a Greefa computerized color sorter from Holland, which the companyuses to achieve more consistency on its retail tomato packs.

The company also is leasing 15,000 square feet of space at the Grainger CountyIndustrial Park, just a mile away from the 12,000-square-foot packing facilitythat the company has used since 1991.

Company co-owner Nancy Ritter said the additional space has helped packingoperations run more smoothly.

Food distribution center

The East Tennessee Regional Food Distribution Center, White Pine, Tenn., hasundergone some facility enhancements with the arrival in May of ProduceKountry Inc., its primary tenant.

Produce Kountry, which has its headquarters in Nogales, Ariz., has convertedone of two coolers to a precooler, and an entirely new cooler measuring 91,000cubic feet was expected to be completed during the first part of June.
